Call for entries now open for Spanish Screenings Content 2027, the official market for the sale and promotion of Spanish cinema
MAFIZ, the industry section of the Festival de Málaga, will host this event from 2 to 4 March, as part of the festival’s 30th edition

The Festival de Málaga has opened the call for entries for the upcoming edition of Spanish Screenings Content 2027, an event designed as an international promotional platform with the primary goal of boosting sales of Spanish cinema. Reaching its 21st edition in 2027, Spanish Screenings serves as the only official market for the sale and promotion of Spanish film. It will take place from 2 to 4 March as part of the 30th Festival de Málaga, within the festival's MAFIZ industry section.

The event is organised by Málaga City Council through the Festival de Málaga, in collaboration with the ICAA (Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts), ICEX Spain Trade and Investment, and A/C Acción Cultural Española.

Throughout the three-day market, international buyers, sales agents, VOD/SVOD platform executives, festival programmers, digital content platforms, domestic and international distributors and foreign producers will have access to the latest Spanish film productions.

The activities scheduled for this year’s event include:

  • Market Screenings: screenings held at the Rosaleda multiplex, where international buyers, festival programmers and domestic distribution and exhibition companies can view recently produced Spanish films.
  • Market Premieres: a dedicated space for private screenings of films that have not yet premiered in any other international market, featuring the participation of the creative talent behind the works.
  • Neo Screenings: screenings of the most innovative and daring Spanish cinema. The event will showcase the latest productions and new forms of cinematic expression emerging from Spain.
  • Festival Official Selection: screening of a selection of the Spanish films competing in the Official Competition and the ZonaZine section of the Festival de Málaga, presented for international buyers, distributors and programmers.
  • Next from Spain: a showcase of trailers or film footage from projects currently in post-production, scheduled for release in 2026–2027.
  • Video Library: an online platform for viewing Spanish films and television series produced from the last quarter of 2025 onwards.
  • Remake It!: an initiative focused on the growing market for the adaptation (remaking) of Spanish audiovisual content, featuring participation from prominent international production companies.
  • Regional Film Hub: an initiative designed to promote cinema from Spain’s various regions, increase the visibility of their productions and foster their international distribution and reach.
  • Spain Colorful Diversity: a space for Spain’s autonomous communities to showcase their filming locations, production support schemes, tax advantages and incentives.
  • Spain ScoreCom: a platform dedicated to raising the profile and promoting the work of musicians and film score composers.

The deadline for submitting films to the Market Screenings, Neo Screenings, and Market Premieres sections is 9 February 2027.

The deadline for submitting films to Next from Spain, Remake It, Regional Film Hub and Video Library is 16 February 2027
