Luz Casal is set to return to the
Cervantes Theatre in Malaga to give the
closing concert of the 29th Festival de Málaga on
15 March.
The concert is part of Luz Casal’s tour to present her new album, ‘Me voy a permitir’, the most eclectic and genre-defying album of her career to date, in which she allows herself the whim of showing ten different faces, as many as there are songs: ten attitudes, ten glances, ten ways of understanding the world. She moves with the freedom of someone who no longer has anything to prove. She reveals her hand as a lady of the French
chanson and a contemporary voice of the Latin American songbook. As a chronicler of the everyday and a rocker who never hung up her leather pants Pablo Guerrero has already warned: Luz can caress like silk or tear like the fangs of a wounded animal. She has the ability to sing out of spite or hope, rogue or luminous, always free.
This new show is a bridge between past and future, certifying her dual condition as an intuitive and talented composer and exceptional performer, capable not only of singing but also of inhabiting songs, whether her own or those of others.
Unfettered by pyrotechnics and artifice, she allows herself to follow no other signals than her own instinct, a freedom that has brought her the admiration of the public, the respect of critics and the complicity of her colleagues, a triple recognition that only happens on rare occasions.
Luz Casal has received multiple awards, such as the Latin Grammy for Musical Excellence (2012) and the Premio Nacional de las Músicas Actuales (2013).
