Biography
Pilar Palomero was born in Zaragoza. She holds a degree in Hispanic Philology from her city’s university and a diploma in Photography Direction from the Escuela de Cine de Madrid (ECAM).
In 2020, she presented her first feature film as director and screenwriter, Las niñas, at the Berlinale, thus marking the beginning of a long journey in which she later won the Biznaga de Oro for best film at the Malaga Festival and four Goya awards, among which the Goya for best film and best new director stand out.
In 2022, La maternal premiered at the San Sebastián International Film Festival, in which its leading actress, Carla Quílez, won the Silver Shell for best performance. The film had a great run in the awards season and was nominated for three Goyas, including in the best film category.
The director is currently in the post-production stage of her next film, Los destellos, which she finished shooting at the end of 2023.
