SYNOPSIS Mariem Hassan, Sahrawi refugee, composer and Western Sahara's most emblematic singer, died of cancer in 2015. Soon before her passing, Mariem returned to the liberated territories of her homeland, where she had spent her childhood. There, she told us her story and sang for the last time. This film pays tribute to her last testimony and her art.
Javier Corcuera
Born in Lima, 1967. Documentary film director and screenwriter, he majored in Film Studies at the Complutense University in Madrid. His films have earned multiple awards including the Fipresci Award at the San Sebastián International Film Festival for
The Back of the World, the Silver Biznaga Award at the Málaga Film Festival for
Winter in Baghdad, and the Goya Award for Best Documentary from the Spanish Film Academy for
Invisibles. His more recent award-winning films include
Sigo Siendo, which earned 14 awards,
The Voyage of Javier Heraud and
No somos nada, winner of the Audience Award at Barcelona's In-Edit. In 2003, he co-founded the Western Sahara International Film Festival, known as FiSahara.
