SYNOPSIS Gollum, a mute teenager, tells the story of Frank and Nina by writing it on the city walls. Frank, a school dropout, survives by selling assignments outside schools while dreaming of escape. Nina, a 16-year-old teenage mother, longs for freedom and studies to achieve it. When she hires Frank as her tutor, their bond deepens, and together they rediscover the meaning of family, though, as Frank says, "reality is just a point of view."
Paola Randi
Born in Milan in 1970, she is an Italian director and screenwriter known for her unique blend of humor and fantasy. In 2010 she made her debut film,
Into Paradiso, a comedy set in Naples that was critically acclaimed. In 2017, she directed
Tito e gli alieni, a sci-fi comedy that cemented her reputation in Italian cinema. She has worked on Netflix series such as
Luna nera and Z
ero, and directed feature films like
The Legend of the Christmas Witch in 2021 and
Beata te in 2022. Her latest work,
La storia del Frank e della Nina, premiered in the Orizzonti Extra section at the Venice Film Festival. Randi’s films often explore human connection and existential curiosity, earning recognition at prestigious festivals like Venice, Seattle, and the David di Donatello Awards.
