SYNOPSIS At the end of the 19th century, when women began riding bicycles, an invented illness was diagnosed with the aim of discouraging women from cycling. Fragments of films, archival images, texts, fictional scenes, and bicycle sounds make up this audiovisual collage, which seeks to be a tribute to women’s freedom and to their capacity for struggle and resistance.

Friends, neighbors, and collaborators. Both combine research and teaching in the Department of Audiovisual Communication at the University of the Basque Country, where they teach Documentary Workshop, Video Creation, and Film Directing, with artistic practice and audiovisual production.
Bicycle Face is their first collaborative work.
