SYNOPSIS Esteban Espinosa is an honest man, though taciturn and surly. A taxidermist by trade, he lives isolated in his workshop, devoting his time to giving the appearance of life to dead matter. Yet behind his cold eyes burns a hidden desire, a strange obsession in an honest man: for years, again and again, he has imagined and planned the most perfect and brilliant heists, the product of an intelligence that, in his own view, sets him apart from others. What happens outside his workshop: the struggle of “fools against fools,” cops and thieves, has nothing to do with him.
Fabián Bielinsky
An Argentine director and screenwriter, he was renowned for his precise and classical style within the suspense and film noir genres. He directed two landmark feature films of modern Argentine cinema, both starring Ricardo Darín: Nueve Reinas (2000), a thriller about con artists that achieved international recognition, and El aura (2005), widely acclaimed by critics. He died prematurely at the age of 47 in São Paulo, Brazil.
