The Málaga Festival's constant construction of bridges towards Latin American cinematography was culminated in its twentieth edition, in which the contest began with its opening ceremony. ‘Summer 1993’, by Carla Simñon, was the winner of the Golden Biznaga for best Spanish feature film, while the Cuban film ‘       Fernando Pérez, achieved the the Golden Biznaga for the best Ibero-American feature film, as well as the Audience Award and the Best Supporting Actress Award (Gabriela Ramos).

‘I don’t know. say goodbye’, by Lino Escalera, was the feature film that won the most awards, winning the Special Jury Award for Best Actress (Nathalie Poza), Best Supporting Actor (Juan Diego) and Best script.

Colombian filmmaker Víctor Gaviria was recognized as best director for the film ‘La mujer del animal’, a film that also won the award for best editing, and Leonardo Sbaraglia, who already had in To his credit with the Málaga Award of this edition, he was recognized as best actor for his role in ‘El otro hermano’.

‘Selfie’, by Víctor García Leñon, was the film awarded the Critics Award at the twentieth Malaga Festival, which was awarded by the International Film Festival. The Ricardo Franco Prize was awarded to the make-up specialist Sylvie Imbert and dedicated a his retrospective on Fernando León de Aranoa.
