Seville and Malaga seal an alliance to promote sustainability in the audiovisual sector

Seville and Malaga have today, within the framework of the Festival de Málaga, formalised the signing of a Collaboration Agreement between Malaga Procultura, Promalaga and Congresos y Turismo de Sevilla (CONTURSA) to implement sustainability measures in the audiovisual sector, consolidating a strategic alliance between two of the main filming destinations in Southern Europe.

The agreement establishes a cooperation framework to develop and apply tools to promote sustainable practices in audiovisual productions, with a special focus on the environmental, economic and social spheres, and in line with the objectives of the United Nations 2030 Agenda.

The main lines of action include the implementation of the Sustainable Production Seal, as well as the dissemination of tools linked to the European Green Screen project, including a carbon footprint calculator and a guide to sustainable filming. These methodologies, initially developed in Malaga, will be adapted for application in Seville, favouring the uniformity of criteria and standards in audiovisual sustainability.

The agreement reinforces the role of both cities as audiovisual destinations committed to a responsible growth model, supporting collaboration between film offices, economic promotion entities and tourism organisations to move towards a more innovative and environmentally friendly audiovisual industry.

The signing of this agreement, held in the context of the Festival de Málaga, demonstrates the shared will of Seville and Malaga to lead – through institutional cooperation – a common strategy on sustainability applied to the audiovisual sector, strengthening its national and international positioning and generating a positive and lasting impact on the territories that host filming.
