SYNOPSIS Taranta is a portrait of the world surrounding the Santana factory in Linares, following its inhabitants as the city undergoes an unusual process of re-industrialization. The film follows four young people, two from Linares and two Chinese engineers, just as the old Santana factory, a symbol of the city, reopens. In this context, the protagonists debate whether to stay and embrace the new industrial era or leave, carrying with them working-class pride, memories of decline, and generational distrust.
Samuel Nacar Journalist and documentary photographer specializing in migration and deindustrialization. He has covered the migration crisis in Europe, from Sierra Leone to Sweden and from Libya to the Canary Islands. In March 2025, he won the WORLD PRESS PHOTO in the reportage category. He has worked for the BBC, El País, El Diario, and La Sexta, among others, and is a regular contributor to TRT and Deutsche Welle. His photographs have been published in outlets such as The New York Times and National Geographic. FILMOGRAPHY Taranta (feature film, 2026)
