Films from the 26th Malaga Festival receive 27 nominations at the Goya Awards
’20.000 especies de abejas’, the winner of the last edition, is up for fifteen awards
This morning, the Film Academy announced the nominations for the Goya Awards 2024, with a total of 28 nominations for eleven of the films that screened at the 26th Malaga Festival. 20.000 especies de abejas, winner of the Biznaga de Oro award last year, has a total of fifteen nominations, including Best Film.
The film directed by Estíbaliz Urresola Solaguren is also up for Best New Director, Best Original Script (also by Estíbaliz Urresola), Best Leading Actress (Patricia López Arnaiz), Best Supporting Actor (Martxelo Rubio), Best Supporting Actress (Ane Gabarain), Best Production Management, Best Editing, Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, Best Make-up and Hairstyling, Best Sound and Best Visual Effects.
On the other hand, Upon Entry by Juan Sebastián Vasquez and Alejandro Rojas, which won the Biznaga award for Best Actor in Malaga for Alberto Ammann, is nominated for Best New Director, Best Original Script and Best Actor in a Leading Role.
Other nominated works are Matria by Álvaro Gago for Best New Director and Best Leading Actress (María Vázquez); Bajo terapia for Best Supporting Actor (Juan Carlos Vellido); Una vida no tan simple for Best Original Script (Félix Viscarret); Iberia, naturaleza infinita in the same category; Hanna y los monstruos for Best Animated Film; La pecera (Puerto Rico) for Best Ibero-American Film; El bus for Best Documentary Short Film; and Txotxongiloa for Best Animated Short Film.
Likewise, the documentary participating in the Malaga Work in Progress of Mafiz Contigo, contigo y sin mí, by Amaya Villar, has been nominated for Best Documentary Film.
These nominations endorse the quality of the films selected at the Malaga Festival, which have been widely screened at other national and international festivals and competitions recently.
