Pilar Palomero, Malaga Talent Award at the 27th Malaga Festival
The event recognises with this award this young filmmaker, author of great successes such as 'Las niñas' and 'La maternal'

The 27th edition of the Malaga Film Festival (from the 1st to the 10th of March) will award the Malaga Talent Award, in collaboration with the newspaper La Opinión de Málaga, to Pilar Palomero. The event thus rewards the career of a filmmaker with a short but highly awarded and successful career.

Pilar Palomero was born in Zaragoza, graduated from Hispanic Philology from the University of Zaragoza and owns a diploma in Cinematography from the Madrid Film School (ECAM).

In 2020, she presented her first feature film as director and scriptwriter, Las niñas, at the Berlinale, thus beginning a long career. She went on to win the Biznaga de Oro award for Best Film at the Malaga Festival and four Goya awards, including the Goya for Best Film and Best New Director.

In 2022, she premiered La maternal at the San Sebastián International Film Festival, where her leading actress, Carla Quílez, won the Concha de Plata award for best performance. The film had a great run in the awards season and was nominated for three Goyas awards, including Best Film.

The director is currently in post-production on her next film, Los destellos, which she shot at the end of 2023.
