La Cápsula del Tiempo revisits the life and music of Isaac Albéniz at the Festival de Málaga with 'Serenata española'
The guitarist Alfredo Lagos brought the projection to a close with a musical performance that combined some of his pieces with the music of Albéniz

La Cápsula del Tiempo returns to the Festival de Málaga after the great reception it had in the previous edition. This section is new this year, inaugurated on Friday 14th March with the projection of Serenata española' (Spanish Serenade) (1947), a play by Juan de Orduña based on the biography of Isaac Albéniz and featuring a cast with artists of the stature of Julio Peña, Juanita Reina and Antonio Vico.

In the words of the presenter of the cycle, Juan Luis Artacho, La Cápsula del Tiempo seeks to "highlight a little-seen Spanish cinema, with films of biographies of well-known Spanish personalities.  In this case, they are films made during Franco's regime, productions that were of interest to the regime, aimed at exalting relevant figures of Spanish culture such as the musician Isaac Albéniz, and into which artists and directors found ways to introduce their own messages".

As a finishing touch to the session, the guitarist and composer Alfredo Lagos performed some of his most  famous pieces, intertwining flamenco with the Spanish classical music of Isaac Albéniz.

According to Artacho, "Alfredo Lagos, from the Jerez school, is one of our best flamenco guitarists. As well as being a good composer and concert performer, he has accompanied artists such as Israel Galván, Sara Baras, José Mercé, Enrique and Estrella Morente".

La Cápsula del Tiempo continues this Saturday 15th with a new session in the Echegaray Theatre, with the projection of 'Esta es mi vida' and the subsequent performance by Laura Ortiz.
