Festival de Málaga call for audiovisual creation grants for 2026
The deadline for submitting short film production projects is 17 January and they will receive a maximum of 6,000 euros

For the 13th consecutive year, Festival de Málaga, organised by Malaga City Council, announces its audiovisual creation grants to encourage and boost audiovisual creation in Malaga. These grants are aimed at short action, animation or documentary film production projects with a maximum duration of 30 minutes and free subject matter. The deadline for submission is 16 January 2026.

These will be grants of variable amounts, determined in each case by the technical jury set up for this purpose, with a maximum per selected project of 6,000 euros and a total maximum amount of 50,000 euros for 2026.

Both individuals, without age limit, who were born, live, study or work in the province of Malaga, and companies and professionals from the audiovisual sector whose tax domicile and main centre of activity are located in the province of Malaga may participate in this call. Each participant may submit a maximum of two projects in this call. Only projects produced by the director or producer of the audiovisual work are eligible.

No paper projects will be accepted to continue with Festival de Málaga's commitment to environmental sustainability. They should be sent by email to ayudas@malagaprocultura.com with subject: 2026 Audiovisual Creation Grants / Project title.

Selected projects will be advised by a technical jury (made up of prestigious Spanish cinema directors, screenwriters, producers and technicians) through a project tutorial aimed at improving and adjusting proposals to the call requirements. Projects selected in previous editions have had excellent tutors such as Isaki Lacuesta, Rafa Cobos, Gracia Querejeta, Manuel Martín Cuenca, Mariela Besuievsky, Rodrigo Sorogoyen, Santi Amodeo, Xavi Puebla, Javier Ruiz Caldera, Alberto Rodríguez and Paco Cabezas, and more.

Selected projects will be announced at the 29th Festival de Málaga (6-15 March 2026). For the widest possible dissemination of the works produced, the resulting audiovisuals will be included in a special section of the programme at the 30th Festival de Málaga, which will take place in 2027.

The terms and conditions and entry form can be downloaded from the Festival de Málaga website.
