Los que dicen ¡no! (Those who say no!), the feature film opening the America, America competition at the Festival de Málaga
The film by the Mexican director Ángel Froilán Flores has premiered at the Cine Albéniz

The Festival de Málaga hosted this Monday 9th the presentation of the feature film Los que dicen ¡no!, by the director Ángel Froilán Flores. This film tells the story of the difficulties faced by the Mexican people when their land is occupied for oil and mining exploitation.

The America, America section was created with the aim of promoting films made by indigenous people, a little-explored territory that will be featured from this 29th edition of the Festival de Málaga onwards.

The premiere of this section was given by the director Ángel Flores, who assured that this film is a portrait of the people who live in his territory, the Sierra Norte de Puebla, an area of Mexico exploited by the oil and mining industries.

As Ángel himself admits, this film has grown little by little, and they could not have imagined they would be presenting it today in Málaga. This film was made, as he says, "to show it to the people".

The creation of open-pit mining was one of the main reasons for using film as a way of showing what was happening in those territories. This is the basis on which the film is built, portraying the reasons why exploited communities oppose these projects.

After the Festival de Málaga, the film will continue its journey through Mexico, after being shown in the 26 territories represented in it. The stories told are about 14 mining and oil projects implemented in all these territories.
