SYNOPSIS Ángeles is a sweet and furious fourteen-year-old girl who sells candy on the street with her little sister. David, a man in his fifties, works in a parking lot. They spend their afternoons talking and cooling off inside the parked cars. One day, David confesses to Ángeles that he intends to end his life. Instead of dissuading him, Ángeles decides to help her friend.
Paula Markovitch
Argentinean–Mexican filmmaker and writer, her cinema explores the ambivalence of the human condition, with characters who resist compassion: mysterious and wild. Author of
El premio, Ángeles, El actor principal and
Cuadros en la oscuridad, she works with improvisation and a visual language that is free and poetic.
El premio received the Silver Bear for Outstanding Artistic Contribution (Berlinale, 2011) and the Ariel Award for Best Film and Best Screenplay (AMACC, 2011).
