SYNOPSIS A destructive geological fury; a superhuman prodigy born of necessity; hardship turned into universal landscape and wine. Bodegas El Grifo in Lanzarote was born as a result of the volcanic eruptions of the 18th century, which redrew the map of the island and the way of cultivating and living with such rugged land. Today, as it celebrates two and a half centuries of existence, we look back on its rich history, its connection to the earth, its cultural links – Saramago, Manrique, Hierro – and examine the challenges it faces of global warming.
