For the second year running, Repsol is sponsoring the Festival de Málaga and will be present as a strategic partner thanks to its multi-energy solutions. With this alliance Repsol once again helps to reduce CO2 emissions derived from the event thanks to 100% renewable fuels, electric charging points and solar energy.
Málaga Procultura, the municipal company that organises the Festival de Málaga, thus reinforces its
commitment to sustainability, a cross-cutting objective that permeates all its management and programming and which is reinforced through this agreement with
Repsol as a strategic partner.
The Festival de Málaga's pillars include the
commitment to environmental sustainability and in this regard it is a benchmark among national and international film events. This strategy has already been implemented in the last two editions and continues in 2025 with the aim of further reducing greenhouse gas emissions and proposing actions for continuous improvement in terms of environmental sustainability.
In its 25th edition, the Festival laid the foundations for a roadmap that has made it possible to reduce and track the evolution of greenhouse gas emissions generated directly and indirectly during the course of the event. These measures include the prioritisation of rail transport; transport in high occupancy vehicles for transfers; choosing hybrid and/or electric vehicles for guests' travel within the province; accommodation in hotels with sustainability certification and the prioritisation of menus with local products (Zero Km); choosing guests' flights according to the level of associated GHG emissions, prioritising those with lower levels, as well as simplifying merchandising, opting for products made from 100% organic materials.
Repsol's support as a multi-energy partner will allow further progress to be made in reducing the Festival's emissions. To this end,
Repsol will supply different energy solutions, such as the use of 100% renewable fuel
in the Festival's transport for the transportation of guests and festival workers. These fuels are produced from organic waste such as used cooking oil.
In addition, as in the previous edition, Repsol will provide the Festival's fleet of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles with access to its entire public charging network in Malaga, with various points installed and operational, and will set up two additional portable points near the Cervantes Theatre.
The iconic square of the Cervantes Theatre will be solar-powered and thanks to the screen Repsol is set to install in this square, the public will be able to keep up to date with everything that is happening at the Festival.
The open-air concerts on La Malagueta beach will also be powered by solar energy which will illuminate the Repsol stage.
