SYNOPSIS Ravens explores love and loss through the life of Japanese photographer Masahisa Fukase and his tumultuous relationship with his wife, Yoko. Blending surrealism and emotion, the film introduces Tsukuyomi, a haunting yet humorous figure embodying Fukase's inner turmoil. Set in post-war Japan, it portrays their passionate yet tragic love story with raw authenticity, highlighting Fukase's striking imagery and the impact of personal tragedy on their art and dreams.
Mark Gill
He is a writer, director, photographer, and musician from Manchester, he began his artistic career at 18 with a Warner Music recording contract after studying graphic design. He later joined Monaco, a band formed by New Order bassist Peter Hook. After 15 years in music, he returned to film and photography, earning nominations for both an Oscar and a BAFTA. His debut feature,
England Is Mine, which explores Morrissey’s early life, was released globally (2017–2019), closed the Edinburgh International Film Festival, and was nominated for a Michael Powell Award. His short film,
The Voorman Problem, starring Martin Freeman and Tom Hollander, also received Oscar and BAFTA nominations. His career began with
The Bloomsbury Cellarmen, which won the Royal Television Society Student Award for Best Documentary.
