SYNOPSIS Leandro went missing after a soccer game. The paramilitary group controlling his neighborhood executed twenty young people that day. Under the threat of violence, Sandra, Leandro’s mother, set out to locate her son’s body in order to give him a dignified burial. Through her testimony, Sandra paints a harrowing picture of the practice of forced disappearances in Rio de Janeiro, where public institutions amass thousands of similar cases in piles of documents and unidentified human remains.

Whereabouts is her first feature-length documentary, which received the Special Jury Prize at its world premiere in the Mostra Novos Rumos section of the Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival.
