SYNOPSIS Old Tjikko: a 9,550-year-old tree standing alone in the Swedish tundra. Surtsey: an island born just 63 years ago off the coast of Iceland. Lotus gomerythus: the only and last known specimen of a plant species discovered in the Canary Islands. Over the course of a process spanning more than ten years, photographer Aleix Plademunt and filmmaker Carlos Marques-Marcet offer a meditation on how we construct our world through the act of looking, and on the complex relationship between images and spoken language.
