‘Yesterday Never Ends’, signed by a renowned director and starring two first-rate actors, was the title commissioned to inaugurate the sixteenth edition of the Malaga Festival. The premiere of the new film by Isabel Coixet, with Candela Peña and Javier Cámara leading the cast, captured the audience. It will attract the attention of movie lovers as well. such as that of the national and international press. The tape received the Special Jury Prize, those for best photography and editing, and the Biznaga for best actress, an award that Candela Peña shared with her. with Aura Garrido, protagonist of ‘Stockholm’.

‘15 años y un día’, by Gracia Querejeta, was the winner of the Biznaga de oro, an award that the filmmaker has already won. in 2004 thanks to ‘Héctor’ and that made her the first filmmaker to win the Malaga contest twice. The film, starring Maribel Verdú, Tito Valverde and Arón Piper, also gained popularity. with the prize for the best script, the best soundtrack and the Special Prize of the Critics' Jury.

The other great winner of this edition was ‘Stockholm’, a film directed by Rodrigo Sorogoyen that got a lot of attention. las biznagas for Best Director, Best Actress (Garrido) and Best New Screenplay. Another great surprise starred her Mario Casas, who won the award for best actor for his dramatic work in ‘La mula’. For their part, the entire female and male cast of ‘Casting’, by Jorge Naranjo, won the best actress and supporting actor awards, respectively.

The Festival of Málaga recognized the festival. the career of the actor José Crowned with the Málaga Award and awarded a prize. the Eloy de la Iglesia Award to the filmmaker Manuel Martín Cuenca. The career of the casting director Sara Bilbatua was distinguished with the Ricardo Franco Award and the director Álex de la Iglesia received a prize.
