CONTACT info@clindoeilfilms.be SYNOPSIS Deep in the Peruvian Amazon, where the bloodthirsty violence and homophobia of Shining Path collide with devastating effect, Saor bears the weight of Peru’s haunted past as he accompanies the body of 'his' Valentina for burial. The young shaman slowly transcends his own perception of reality through the disquieting revelations of the community that killed her.Mary Jiménez, born in Peru, first studied architecture in Lima before attending INSAS in Belgium. Her first feature, 21:12 Piano Bar, won the Art and Essay Cinemas prize. Her film Spelling Love screened at the Berlinale in 1985. Since then, she has directed a dozen films selected for A-list festivals. Bénédicte Liénard studied cinema at IAD, and afterwards, she directed Heads to Wall (1997). In 2002, she made A Piece of Sky, which was shown in the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes. She then continued to create an extensive body of work, several films in collaboration with Mary Jiménez, including By the Name of Tania (Berlinale 2019).
