Phylloxera is an insect, a vine parasite. In 1863, it caused a viticultural crisis in Europe and America, and led to a change in the way that vines were cultivated throughout the world, starting to use rootstock systems hereafter. Today, almost all vineyards in the world are grafted. There are only 4 regions considered free of phylloxera: Chile, Crete, Cyprus and the Canary Islands. A film about the historical memory of Canarian wines and their importance for the world's wine heritage.
