Malaga-born Jorge Porras embraces the crime genre in his second film as a director, El culpable: redención
The filmmaker directs and stars in the thriller, in which he plays a police inspector fighting against the Colombian mafia on the Costa del Sol

The ‘5 Minutes of Cinema’ section brought the 27th edition of the Festival de Málaga to a close with the presentation of El culpable: redención, the second feature film directed by and starring the Malaga-born artist Jorge Porras, who previewed images of this sequel to the first film he directed with the director Fran Rodríguez, El culpable.

This window of the event, which aims to present projects in one of the production stages, showed a preview of the film that has been framed within the crime genre. The plot revolves around Inspector Samuel Alarcón (Jorge Porras), who works against organised crime orchestrated by the notorious Colombian gang Los Cauca. The inspector faces a moral dilemma as he seeks redemption for his actions, and a race against time to find the truth.

'The character embodies a continuous struggle against the clock with some pretty harsh circumstances that he has to face', said Porras after viewing several scenes from the filming, which counts on some great technical resources. 'My enthusiasm and energy are fully invested in a project that we hope to get off the ground with a co-production', continued the director and actor, referring to the current state of production.

He was joined by several of the actors from the cast, who thanked the director for the opportunity to participate in the film, who then returned their gratitude for having such a 'well-suited and dedicated cast for his project'.
