In the agreement, which will run for the next three years - the 29th (2026), 30th (2027) and 31st (2028) editions - RTVE undertakes to cover the main events taking place during the Malaga Festival on its various media and channels, as well as once again assuming official sponsorship and exclusively broadcasting the closing gala of the event on television, the web and other digital platforms.
The Festival has been organised and promoted since 1998 by Málaga Procultura, a company wholly owned by the Malaga City Council, whose corporate purpose includes the promotion and development of all activities related to Spanish-language cinema, among others.
RTVE in the 28th edition of the Malaga Festival
The Malaga festival has become, over its almost three decades of history, a great platform for cinema and a great window for films with the participation of RTVE, which comes every year to present its new productions to critics and the public before they are shown at theatres.
In this 28th edition, RTVE is attending with
22 films with the participation of RTVE, 13 in the Official Section, and nine documentaries, one of them in competition. Furthermore, it will carry out many of the film spaces of TVE and RNE from there; it will broadcast the
closing gala; it will pre-premiere its new fiction ‘
Weiss & Morales’; and it will show a preview of
‘HOPE!’, the new documentary series of
RTVE Play.
This year, the programme will feature three special galas to be held by RTVE: on Saturday the 15th at the Cervantes Theatre, with ‘
Tierra de nadie’ by Albert Pintó; on Sunday the 16th at the Albéniz Theatre there will be a pre-premiere of ‘
La huella del mal’, directed by Manuel Ríos; and on Monday the 17th, in collaboration with Canal Sur, ‘
Vírgenes’ by Álvaro Díaz Lorenzo will be presented, also at the Albéniz.
In addition, between the 14th and 23rd of March, while the competition is taking place, RTVE will be providing content on all its channels and platforms. RTVE Play already has a
collection of titles that have won awards or been highlighted at the Málaga Festival available, with highly-rated films such as ‘Cinco lobitos’, ‘Alcarrás’, ‘Las niñas’, ‘Matria’, ‘El registrado’, ‘La boda de Rosa’ and ‘Verano 1993’.
