Málaga Procultura and San Diego Comic-Con Málaga sign a new partnership agreement
There will be cross-promotional discounts on ticket sales and a film series featuring films starring guests at the major comic book event
Tickets are now on sale for the concerts by The Animesy, Europe’s first symphony orchestra dedicated to anime, on 2 and 3 October
The municipal company
Málaga Procultura (responsible for managing the
Festival de Málaga and the Cervantes Theatre in Málaga) and
San Diego Comic-Con Málaga have signed a collaboration agreement aimed at jointly promoting content and activities, thereby reinforcing Málaga’s position as a national and international audiovisual and cultural hub. Today’s presentation of this agreement was attended by the Councillor for Culture and Historical Heritage,
Mariana Pineda; Councillor for Innovation,
Alicia Izquierdo; the manager of Málaga Procultura and director of the Festival de Málaga and Cervantes Theatre,
Juan Antonio Vigar y the director of San Diego Comic-Con Málaga,
Fernando Piquer.
Through this alliance, both events seek to create synergies between these two city cultural gatherings by offering cross-promotional ticket discounts and including specific content in the programme for the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con Málaga, taking place from 1 to 4 October.
Mariana Pineda, the Councillor for Culture at Málaga City Council, stated that this partnership reinforces, for another year, the strategic drive to position Málaga as an audiovisual city. “The union of two landmark events solidifies the city as a meeting point for professionals, creators and the public”, she asserted.
For his part, Fernando Piquer, director of San Diego Comic-Con Málaga, said: “San Diego Comic-Con Málaga is a celebration of pop culture that began at FYCMA and extends far beyond it.” We are delighted that the convention is part of Málaga’s cultural life and enables collaborations, like this one, that bring cinema, comics and pop culture to new audiences.”

Juan Antonio Vigar, explained the details of the agreement. Firstly, there will be a
cross-promotional ticket discount whereby
anyone who has purchased tickets for San Diego Comic-Con Málaga will get a 10% discount on tickets for The Animesy concert, which will take place on 2 and 3 October (9.00 pm) at the Espacio Sohrlin Andalucía as part of MOSMA Reloaded 2026–27 / 11th Málaga International Film Music Festival, and which forms part of the programme for the new season at the Cervantes Theatre.
Meanwhile,
members of the Soy Procultura card scheme will receive a 20% discount on tickets for San Diego Comic-Con Málaga.
In addition, there will be a
series of screenings from 1 to 3 October at the Cine Albéniz , featuring three films with Spanish subtitles (VOSE) related to the programme and guests of San Diego Comic-Con Málaga:

Mimic and
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (Extended Edition).
Concert tickets go on sale tomorrow, Thursday 21th, at 6.00 pm at the Cervantes Theatre box office and
online via Uniticket. The film series will be free of charge upon picking up an invitation at the box office or online, and it will be made available to the public at a later date.
The Animesy
The Animesy (The Anime Symphony Orchestra). Grand Smash Season 26–27 features musical direction by Raoul Grüneis and Manuel Nawri. It will take place on 2 and 3 October at the Espacio Sohrlin Andalucía as part of the MOSMA Reloaded 2026-27 programme presented by the Cervantes Theatre Málaga.

The Animesy is a European project founded in 2024 with the goal of elevating anime soundtracks to a top-tier symphonic format. They have gone from being an original idea to becoming one of Europe's leading orchestras focused on this genre, expanding their reach to international stages and selling out venues such as the Berlin Philharmonie, Cologne Philharmonie, Hamburg Laeiszhal, Munich Herkulessaal, and L'Auditori in Barcelona. They have collaborated with prominent figures in the world of anime, such as the internationally renowned Japanese composer, arranger and conductor Kaoru Wada.

- 1 October, 10.00 pm: Mimic (Guillermo del Toro, 1997), starring Mira Sorvino, a guest at San Diego Comic-Con Málaga.
- 2 October, 10.00 pm: Chasing Amy (Kevin Smith, 1997), a film featuring San Diego Comic-Con Málaga guests Kevin Smith and Jason Lee.
- 3 October, 6.00 pm: The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, Extended Edition (Peter Jackson, 2001). Starring, amongst others, Elijah Wood and Sean Astin, who are in attendance at San Diego Comic-Con Málaga.
