The Malaga Cinema Gala presents awards to actors Marco Cáceres and Elena Martínez, and the 'Más Madera’ Film Club
The projects selected for the 2025 audiovisual creation grants were also announced at the event
On Wednesday 19 March, the Cervantes Theatre hosted the Malaga Cinema Gala. With this awards ceremony, the Festival de Málaga recognises leading figures from the Malaga film scene and announces the winners of the 2025 Audiovisual Creation Grants.
And in this edition, the Biznagas Málaga Cinema for Best Actor and Best Actress were awarded to Marco Cáceres and Elena Martínez, respectively. On the other hand, the Cine Club Más Madera film club received the Biznaga Málaga Cinema Oficios del Cine award, for its long history in Benalmádena as a meeting point for film lovers.
The awards ceremony, hosted by journalist Celia Bermejo, was attended by the Mayor of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre; the Councillor for Culture and Historical Heritage, Mariana Pineda; and Juan Antonio Vigar, Director of the Festival de Málaga.
Pablo Lobo and Victoria Herraiz, both Fundación Málaga Talent Scholarship holders, were responsible for providing the musical ambience for the gala. The fifth edition of the Fundación Málaga Talent Scholarships was also presented, offering grants to young people from Malaga for further studies in music, dance and drama at national and international training centres. The aim of this project is to promote the performing arts in the province of Malaga.
This 28th edition of the Festival de Málaga has once again shone a spotlight on the talent that exists on the Costa del Sol, presenting awards to figures from different sectors of the film industry. The awards were presented by Diego San José, scriptwriter and creator of successful series such as 'Celeste' and the filmmaker Carla Subirana, who competed a few years ago in the Official Competition of the Festival de Málaga with 'Sica'.
The gala also served to remember José de la Torre, who passed away last year. Although he was born in Montilla (Cordoba), the actor was closely linked to Malaga during his professional career. He studied at the Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático de Málaga and participated in fiction series such as 'Toy Boy', 'Vis a Vis: El Oasis' and 'Amar es para siempre', among others.
