Actress Rossy de Palma, winner of the Málaga – SUR Award at the 29th Festival de Málaga
The actress will also be at the festival with the film 'Día de caza' by Pedro Aguilera, in the Official Section out of competition

Festival de Málaga will give the Málaga – Sur Award to actress Rossy de Palma at its 29th edition (6-15 March). The Festival awards this prize in collaboration with Diario Sur to professionals with a long and renowned film career, such as Rossy de Palma, one of the most iconic and multifaceted actresses on the Spanish audiovisual scene.

Twice nominated for Goya Awards for work directed by Pedro Almodóvar, of whom she is a fetish actress —one of the so-called "Almodóvar girls"—, Rossy de Palma has also worked under the direction of internationally renowned filmmakers such as Robert Altman, Mike Figgis, Patrice Leconte, Mehdi Chareff, Terry Gilliam and Karim Dridi.

Her performance in Hors Jeu earned her the Best Actress award at the prestigious Locarno Film Festival (Switzerland).

She starred in Madame, written and directed especially for her by Amanda Sthers, for which she won the Best International Performance award at the Gasparilla International Film Festival.

Her next film is the eagerly awaited Día de caza, that will celebrate its national premiere will take place at the 29th Festival de Málaga, in the Official Section Out of Competition. Directed by Pedro Aguilera and co-written with Lola Mayo, the film revisits Carlos Saura's La Caza, a key Spanish film, in which Rossy de Palma is accompanied by an incomparable cast headed by Carmen Machi, Blanca Portillo and Zoé Arnao.

Produced by Jaime Gona, a recent new addition to Secuoya Studios' Film Department, with executive production by Anna Saura, Día de caza is a Spanish-French co-production by Día de Caza AIE, Gonita Filmaccion SL and Mondex Et Cie. A film with the participation and collaboration of RTVE, Movistar+, Canal Extremadura, ICAA, Regional Government of Extremadura, Region of Madrid, Europa Creativa Media, Ibermedia, Residencias de Academia and Ventana Cinemad. The film will be released in Spanish cinemas on 5 June by Sideral.

Día de caza tells the story of Blanca, Rosa and Carmen, three middle-aged friends who, after a long time without seeing each other, meet up again with Diana, Rosa's young and taciturn niece, to go rabbit hunting in a reserve inherited by Blanca. The conflicts in their lives emerge amidst laughter and secrets: children, separations, infidelities, alcohol and professional ambitions. Stifling heat and memories of the past strain the atmosphere to the point of confronting the women, evoking a tragedy that occurred almost 60 years ago on the same property.
