The Official Malaga Short Films Competition opens at the 29th Festival de Málaga with the screening of its two programmes
17 productions compete in this year's edition for the Silver Biznaga for Best Short Film
The 29th Festival de Málaga inaugurated yesterday the Malaga Short Films Competition with the screening of programmes 1 and 2 at the Cine Albéniz, marking the beginning of this category dedicated to short film production linked to local production.
Nine short films were presented in the first programme: En Toronto no pasan estas cosas (These things don’t happen in Toronto), by Manolo Orellana Naranjo; 25 haikus animados (25 animated haikus), by Jaime Penalva; Roshni, by Rakesh Narwani; VerdeRojo (GreenRed), by Andrés Suárez and Miguel Almanza; Fragmentos Anacrónicos (Anachronistic Fragments), by Javier Podadera; Papá Noel ha muerto (Father Christmas is dead), by Gerardo Ballesteros González; The Saint Antoine, by David Masson San Gabriel; El Bahía (The Bay), by Andrea Bilbao Doblado, and A pesar de las ruinas (Despite the Ruins), by Raquel Quintana Martín.
The day continued with the screening of eight other works: Las desqueridas (The abandoned), by Charlie García Villalba and Gonzalo Ruiz Esteban; Tendrá tus ojos (They will have your eyes), by Gonzalo Cámara; La Bohème, by David Navas Cañedo; Ghosting and other Ghosts, by Élise Tandé; Churrería Maravillas (Maravillas Churro Shop), by Guillermo Rodríguez and Ana Trinidad; La hora escrita (The Written Hour), by Coke Arijo; Ring ring ring, by Adrián Ramírez León, and Inquilinos (Tenants), by Adrián Ordóñez.
These screenings mark the start of a new edition of this competitive section of the Festival, which brings together a wide variety of film proposals and perspectives from creators linked to the Malaga audiovisual scene.
The next screenings of short films are the four programmes of the Official Competition, Animazine and Ayudas a la creación, which will be screened on the 7th, 8th and 9th March.
