The Antonio Banderas Promenade adds a monument dedicated to Rossy de Palma
The actress will receive the Málaga-SUR Award at tonight's gala of the 29th Festival de Málaga, where she will also present the film 'Día de caza'
The Antonio Banderas Promenade in Málaga added a new monument to its collection of honorees today, this one dedicated to actress Rossy de Palma, who will receive the Málaga-SUR Award at tonight's gala. The performer unveiled the plaque surrounded by the large crowd that awaited her arrival, accompanied by Francisco de la Torre, Mayor of Málaga; Mariana Pineda, Councillor for Culture and Historical Heritage; Francisco Pomares, Councillor responsible for District 7 - Carretera de Cádiz; Pedro Vidal, Regional Secretary for Culture of the Balearic Islands; Diana de la Cuadra, Director of the Institute of Cultural Industries (ICIB) of the Balearic Islands; Alberto Gómez Almendres, Editor-in-Chief of the Culture section at Diario SUR, and Juan Antonio Vigar, Director of the Festival de Málaga.
With this monolith, the festival wishes to pay tribute to Rossy de Palma's impeccable career as a film and television actress, a career marked by her unique personality and international reach. Considered one of the most iconic and multifaceted actresses in the Spanish audiovisual landscape, she has developed a filmography that combines auteur cinema with international productions.
Throughout her career, she has worked under the direction of renowned filmmakers such as Pedro Almodóvar—for whom she is a favourite actress and part of the well-known "Almodóvar girls"—as well as with international directors such as Robert Altman, Mike Figgis, Patrice Leconte, Mehdi Charef, Terry Gilliam, and Karim Dridi. She has been nominated twice for the Goya Awards for her work with Almodóvar.
Among the international accolades for her work, the Best Actress award at the Locarno Film Festival for her performance in Hors Jeu stands out. She also starred in Madame, written and directed especially for her by Amanda Sthers, a role for which she received the Best International Performance award at the Gasparilla International Film Festival.
Rossy de Palma will be present at this 29th edition of the Festival de Málaga with the film Día de caza, directed by Pedro Aguilera, which will have its national premiere in the Official Out of Competition section. In the film, she shares the screen with Carmen Machi, Blanca Portillo and Zoé Arnao. For all these reasons, tonight, at the 28th edition of the Festival de Málaga, the actress will receive the Malaga-SUR Award, which recognises professionals with long and outstanding careers in film.
