La nena (The Girl) continues Atresmedia's thriller series and bursts onto the Festival de Málaga scene with more action
The platform Atresplayer and Diagonal TV present the third instalment of La novia gitana (The Gypsy Bride), the television adaptation of the saga of the same name written by Carmen Mola
On Thursday 12 March, the Festival de Málaga hosted the presentation of La Nena (The Girl), the third instalment of the saga La novia gitana. This adaptation of the trilogy written by Carmen Mola was screened this afternoon at the Albéniz Cinema and is part of the Out of Competition section.
The screening of the first episode of the series was attended by the director of Fiction at Atresmedia TV Montse García, the director of Atresplayer, Emilio Sánchez Zaballos; the director of Diagonal TV, Jordi Frades; the director of the series Paco Cabezas; and part of the cast made up of Nerea Barros, Lucía Martín Abelló, Oscar de la Fuente, Daniel Ibáñez, Francesc Garrido, Mona Martínez, Vicente Romero, Ignacio Montes, Nuria González and Eduardo Casanova.
After watching the episode, its director, Paco Cabezas, wanted to make it clear that although the series deals with very tough issues, "there is a lot of action". He says that "little more than the title" has been kept from the original book, and that he is very proud to present it in Malaga.
Nerea Barros, well known for her role as inspector Elena Blanco after three seasons of the series, says that this series has something very important, which is "that it is supported by people with a very strong link".
Lucía Martín Abelló stated that often in audiovisual media "the magic formula does not work", although she says that this is not the case with this series. Meanwhile, Mona Martínez thanked the director for putting his trust in her and her creative freedom.
Daniel Ibáñez said "it is a pleasure" to be in this series and that you don't often get the chance to play "a character who evolves so much". Ignacio Montes from Malaga, who received the news from Cabezas himself when he phoned him and asked for Zárate, the name of his character, expressed the same sentiment.
Francesc Garrido, however, found it a little more difficult to accept his role, although Cabezas eventually managed to convince him. The latest addition is Eduardo Casanova, who says that "working with Paco is great", and that they are "lucky" that in Spain there are directors who can do what they want to do and "enter the mainstream".
From Atresmedia, Montse García concluded that the platform is not looking for a specific content, but that "the important thing is how the story is told", and that in this respect La nena is very special content.
The series begins months after the events of La Red Púrpura, when it appears that the hunt is not yet over. After Lucas' death, Inspector Elena Blanco (Barros) disappears, but when a new discovery shakes things up, she has no choice but to go back and face what she tried to leave behind.
Meanwhile, Chesca (Martín Abelló) has chosen another path. Separated from her former ally, she has plunged into a war of her own where rules no longer apply. The team is still on the trail of Rocío Narváez (Nuria González), ‘La Madre', but each breakthrough only reveals an even bigger and more dangerous network.
After its premiere at the Festival de Málaga, the series will arrive on Atresplayer with its eight episodes on 12 April.
