The actor received the award at the Cine Albéniz before the screening of Dos Días (Two Days), the film directed by Gonzalo Manso
The Festival de Málaga, organised by Malaga City Council through Malaga Procultura, has awarded the 29th edition of the Biznaga de Honor to Saturnino García. The ceremony, held at the Albéniz Cinema on Thursday 12 March, was attended by the director of the Festival de Málaga, Juan Antonio Vigar, the director and screenwriter Gonzalo Manso, and the actor Jesús Outes "Meiriño".
The award ceremony took place during the presentation of Dos Días, a film directed by Gonzalo Manso in which Saturnino García takes part. Before the screening, the actor collected the Biznaga de Honor visibly moved and grateful for this new recognition from the festival.
"What is it with Málaga and me?", the actor began jokingly, to continue talking about his love for the city and thanking the festival's director for being there: "It is an honour and a distinction that the director of the festival himself is here. It matters a lot to me. It is an award of honour and I accept it”. He also wanted to "challenge" the directors to make a film to be able to come back to the festival to receive another award for their work.
Afterwards, Juan Antonio Vigar gave the floor to the director of Dos Días, Gonzalo Manso, who presented his film and was very moved by the audience. "How exciting to see a full house about to show a film!” In this way, he has brought to an end the work he started three years ago when he sat down to write the script.
In addition, as part of the recognition of the actor, he emphasised the work of Saturnino García, who has been key to the success of this film, as has another member of the cast, Jesús Outes "Meiriño". "I hope the film reaches people because it comes from a very personal place, inspired by the relationship I have with my own grandfather," Manso confessed.
The event, held in one of the festival's main venues, highlighted Saturnino's career, one of the most personal and beloved in Spanish acting. With this award, the Festival de Málaga continues its tradition of paying tribute to key figures in Spanish cinema.
