The Cineforum film series of the 29th Festival de Málaga hosts screenings of Sorda and La infiltrada
The Albéniz Cinema welcomes students from two schools in the province for another day of this educational activity
In collaboration with the Delegation of Education, Youth, Equality and Citizen Participation of the Provincial Council of Malaga, the 29th Festival de Málaga has once again organised Cineforum, an activity aimed at disseminating cinema to Secondary and Baccalaureate students. On 13 March, the films screened at the Cine Albéniz were La infiltrada (The Infiltrator) by Arantxa Echevarría, and Sorda (The Deaf Woman) by Eva Libertad.
The screening of the winning film of the last edition of the Festival de Málaga with the Biznaga for Best Film and winner of three Goya Awards 2026, Sorda, was attended by the secondary schools IES Serranía (Alozaina) and IES Diego Gaitán (Almogía). The Provincial Council’s deputy for Education and Youth, José Santaolalla and the actor, Álvaro Cervantes, took part in the colloquium with students.
This feature film starring Miriam Garlo follows Ángela, a deaf woman who is going to have a baby with her hearing partner. The arrival of the baby girl alters the couple's relationship, leading Angela to face the task of raising her daughter in a world she isn’t suited to. Eva Libertad's feature film highlights the challenges that deaf people must face in certain daily actions, especially in motherhood.
The project was born from the personal experience of Miriam Garlo, leading actress and sister of the director Eva Libertad, from her reflection on what it would be like to face motherhood as a deaf woman. Eva Libertad decided to take this idea first to a short film, and after the good reception, to turn it into a feature film.
The Provincial Council's deputy for Education and Youth, José Santaolalla, stated that this activity aims to "enrich and complement training". It is a space where young people can see for themselves the ins and outs of filmmaking and everything that is involved in it.
The main actor in the film, Álvaro Cervantes, explained that the film has given him "many joys", as he was able to share the nomination with his sister, which was "a very special moment" for the actor.
On 12 March, students from the province attended a Cineforum session which screened the film La Infiltrada by Arantxa Echevarría, based on the true story of Aranzazu Berradre Marín, the pseudonym under which a National Police officer infiltrated the terrorist group ETA for 8 years. During her undercover operation, she was forced to cut off all family ties, all in order to dismantle the Donosti commando at a crucial moment when the gang was falsely claiming to be observing a truce.
