‘Dos días', a story about old age and affection, is presented at the 29th Festival de Málaga
At the presentation of the feature film in the Official Section Out of Competition, directed by Gonzaga Manso, a Special Biznaga Award was presented to Saturnino García, the film's star.

The feature film ‘Dos días’, directed by Gonzaga Manso, has been presented at the 29th Festival de Málaga. Following the screening, the team held a Q&A session with the audience, including the filmmaker, actors Saturnino García and Jesús Outes "Meiriño", and Paco Ponce de León, the project's executive producer.

‘Dos días’ is a simple, warm, and intimate story centred on the encounter between an elderly man and a barnacle harvester who, during a brief period, share experiences that lead them to reflect on old age, the passage of time, and affection. Through their relationship, the film blends moments of emotion with a tone that also includes comedy.

Before the screening, the director of the Festival de Málaga, Juan Antonio Vigar, took to the stage to present Saturnino García with a Special Biznaga Award in recognition of his long and distinguished career. The artist received the award with "honour and emotion," as he stated, recalling the affection and special connection he feels for the Málaga region every time he visits.

During the Q&A session, Gonzaga Manso expressed his gratitude for the audience's warm reception at this first public screening. When asked about the casting choices, the director explained that it was a key element, since, as he affirmed, "the story rests on its two protagonists."

In this regard, he explained that he chose Saturnino García from his very first audition because of his physique and intensity, while the addition of Jesús Outes “Meiriño,” a barnacle harvester with no acting experience, came just a week before filming thanks to the naturalness he displayed on camera. Manso acknowledged that casting a 90-year-old actor and a newcomer was risky, but that it turned out to be “very successful.”

The filmmaker also pointed out that, although the film addresses serious situations and themes such as old age and several parallel love stories, comedy is always present. He also explained that the project began three years ago and that his experience as a photographer influenced his approach to directing the visuals, especially his work with light and camera.

For his part, Jesús Outes “Meiriño,” a newcomer to the role, joked that he finds the film “wonderful,” recalling that just a few days ago he was working at sea and now he was standing before the festival audience. The barnacle harvester also compared his profession to acting, emphasising that both involve responsibility and require putting all your heart into what you do. Saturnino García closed the discussion with humour, describing the film as "colossal" and declaring, amid laughter, that it is "the best in the world."
