The Festival de Málaga presents the ZonaZine, Short Films, Documentaries, Mosaic and other awards
The gala took place on the last day of the 29th Festival de Málaga at the Cine Albéniz, presented by actress Noemí Ruiz and actor Miguel Ángel Martín.

This morning, the Festival de Málaga held the awards ceremony for the Zonazine, Short Films, Documentaries, Mosaic and other parallel awards, in a ceremony held at the Cine Albéniz, as part of the final day of the event.

In the Short Films Audience Awards category, the Silver Biznaga for Best Animazine Short Film went to Bobs, by Júlia Marcó. In the Malaga Short Films section, the audience awarded the Silver Biznaga to Manolo Orellana Naranjo's En Toronto no pasan estas cosas (These things don’t happen in Toronto). The Audience Award for Best Fiction Short Film went to El lago silente (The Silent Lake), by Varo López.

The jury of the Official Short Films Section, made up of Andrea Duro, Fernando Juan Lima and Jorge Rivero, awarded several prizes in different categories. At Animazine, the Silver Biznaga for Best Animated Short Film, worth 2,000 euros, went to Pinchu es así (That’s just what Pinchu’s like), by Carmen Córdoba.

In the Malaga Short Films section, the Silver Biznaga for Best Fiction Short Film went to Las desqueridas (The Outcasts), by Charlie García Villalba and Gonzalo Ruiz Esteban.
In the Short Fiction Films section, the Jury awarded the Silver Biznaga for Best Short Film, worth 2,000 euros, to Talk Me, by Joecar Hanna. The Silver Biznaga for Best Director went to Marc Camardons for Per bruixa i metzinera (For Witch and Apothecary). In the acting category, the Silver Biznaga for Best Female Performance went to Sonia Almarcha and Mirela Balic for Una vocal (A Vowell), while the Silver Biznaga for Best Male Performance went to Chete Guzmán for Epifanía (Epiphany). The jury also awarded a Special Mention to Instrucciones para cocinar un pollo bajo tierra (Instructions for Cooking a Chicken Underground), by Oliva Delcán and Nacho Sánchez.

In the Ibero-American Short Films (Ibershorts) category, the Silver Biznaga for Best Short Film went to Domingo familiar (Family Sunday), by Gerardo del Razo.
In the Documentaries Official Competition, the jury made up of Josep María Catalá, Lorena Muñoz and María Zafra awarded the Silver Biznaga for Best Documentary, worth 4,000 euros, to El mapa para tocarte (The Map to Touch You), by Mercedes Afonso. The Silver Biznaga for Best Director went to María Molina Peiró for Como todo mortal (Like Any Mortal), while the Special Jury Prize went to A voz de Deus (The Voice of God), by Miguel Antunes Ramos. The jury also awarded a Special Mention to Sucia (Dirty), by Bárbara Mestanza and Marc Pujolar.

As for the Documentary Audience Awards, given by the People's Jury of the University of Malaga (UMA), the Silver Biznaga for Best Documentary Feature Film went to Sucia, by Bárbara Mestanza and Marc Pujolar, while the Audience Award for Best Documentary Short Film went to Los días azules (Blue Days), by Javier García Lerín, which also received the Silver Biznaga for Best Documentary Short Film awarded by the official jury.

In the Mosaic: Panorama Internacional section, the audience awarded the Silver Biznaga for Best Film to Nathan Ambrosioni's Les enfants vont bien (The Children are Fine).
In the ZonaZine Official Selection, the jury made up of Nicolás Gil Lavedra, Àlex Monner and Paula Palacios awarded the Silver Biznaga for Best Spanish Film to La carn (The Flesh), by Joan Porcel, and the Silver Biznaga for Best Ibero-American Film to Oca (Goose), by Karla Badillo, which also won the section's Audience Award. The Silver Biznaga for Best Director went to Gwai Lou for We are the jungle. In the acting categories, the award for Best Female Performance went to Angela Sarafyan for Quase Deserto (Almost Deserted), while Best Male Performance went to Lluís Garau for La carn. The Jury also awarded a Special Mention to Los nadadores (The Swimmers), by Sol Iglesias.
During the ceremony, a number of parallel festival awards were also presented. The Film Schools Award for Best Film in ZonaZine went to We Are the Jungle, by Gwai Lou, while the ASECAN Opera Prima Award in the Official Feature Film Section went to Corredora (Runner), by Laura García Alonso.

The Feroz Puerta Oscura Award for the Feature films Official Competition went to Yo no moriré de amor (I won't die of Love), by Marta Matute, and the Signis Award went to La mujer de la fila (The Woman in the Queue), by Benjamín Ávila.

Among other awards, the QuirónSalud Biznaga for the Most Social Documentary went to La huella y el tiempo (The Footprint and Time), by Raúl Vaquero, while The Core School Biznaga for Best Short Film went to Killjote, by Ángel Villahermosa.

The ceremony served to recognise the talent and diversity of perspectives found across the various sections of the event, highlighting the work of emerging and established filmmakers from Spain and Latin America. With the presentation of these awards, the Festival de Málaga continues to strengthen its commitment to promoting Spanish-language cinema and to promoting new voices in the audiovisual industry.
