The Malaga Festival will promote the talent of Andalusian scriptwriters in the section El Principio del Film by Ventana Sur
This new call is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Sports of Junta de Andalucía and the collaboration of the Andalusian Film Academy
The Malaga Festival, through its MAFIZ Industry Area, participates in the project El Principio del Film, organised and developed by Ventana Sur, which will take place from the 27th of November to the 1st of December 2023 in Buenos Aires (Argentina). The aim of this collaboration between the Malaga Festival and Ventana Sur is to include Andalusian talent in this event, through its scriptwriters and their works, in order to develop a stronger and more solid Ibero-American film industry in the international market.
This initiative is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Sports of Junta de Andalucía and with the collaboration of the Andalusian Film Academy as a representative body of the Andalusian audiovisual sector.
El Principio del Film is an initiative created by Ventana Sur in 2020 to give to a diverse selection of scripts the chance to transcend borders and reach the international market. It is also an opportunity for producers and professionals from the rest of the world looking to connect with the creativity of Ibero-America without intermediaries. In this way, El Principio del Film was created to promote the talent of the authors, an unavoidable first step in any film production.
Now, the Malaga Festival joins this project and opens a call for Andalusian scriptwriters, from which a maximum of five fiction feature film scripts will be chosen. The responsible for selecting the scripts will be a committee made up of representatives from the Malaga Festival/MAFIZ, Ventana Sur and Andalusian Film Academy.
During the five days of Ventana Sur, the Andalusian audiovisual industry will have a prominent presence in one of the world's strategic markets in front of international buyers, sales agents, decision makers, investors, festival programmers, production companies and professionals of the industry. A unique opportunity, through which we seek to boost the internationalisation of the Andalusian audiovisual industry and support the beginning of the value chain of a film: the scriptwriters and their scripts.
