Class differences and injustices shape the plot of 'Calladita', the first feature film by Miguel Faus
The Catalan director returns to the Malaga Festival with the film based on his short film of the same name and stands out for being the first European film to be financed with NFTs (non-fungible token

The Official Section Out of Competition witnessed this Monday the presentation of 'Calladita', a fiction feature film directed by the Catalan Miguel Faus and starring Paula Grimaldo, Ariadna Gil, Luis Bermejo, Pol Hermoso, Violeta Rodríguez and Nany Tovar.

The film, which stems from his short film of the same name, stands out not only for a plot that deals with class differences and social injustices, but also for being a pioneer in European production financed entirely with NFT, an innovative alternative to traditional crowdfunding.

The director, along with producer Carlo D'Ursi and the film's leading actresses, Ariadna Gil, Paula Grimaldo and Nany Tovar, presented the film, which tells the story of Ana, a maid who has just arrived from Colombia. Ana works tirelessly in a luxurious mansion without an agreement, hoping to get better conditions once the summer is over, as long as she is discreet and quiet. Ana finds in the maid of the neighbouring house an accomplice, with whom she will discover new ways of having fun during her summer on Costa Brava.

In the discussion that followed, Faus explained that 'Calladita' tackles issues related to class differences and injustices from a satirical portrait of the Catalan upper middle class. On the idea behind the project, he confessed that the writing of the script began to take shape during the post-production of the short film of the same name. He revealed the intention of turning this project into her first feature film.

In relation to her character, the actress Ariadna Gil has revealed that she immersed herself in the complexity of the role, avoiding judging the character and from a deep understanding. For Gil, the most striking thing was that her character did not consciously perceive the abuse of power she exercised, and her preparation work approached it from the perspective of a person bitter about life.

Meanwhile, Paula Grimaldo, who plays Ana and is the main character in the original short film, revealed that the preparation of the character was from a perspective characterised by fear and the feeling of becoming small in front of her employers.

The actress Nany Tovar (Gisela) and the protagonist's accomplice in the plot, recognised the gratifying experience of playing the person who provides the protagonist with the tools to free herself from the emotional prison in which she finds herself and begin to enjoy life.

In addition to a renowned cast, the film features renowned figures such as Julie Pacino and Jim Cummings in production roles. The film, which will be released theatrically on the 24th May, is expected to be a milestone in the film industry, setting a new chapter in financing models through the revolutionary technology of NFTs.
