The closing gala of the 27th Malaga Film Festival will be held on Saturday the 9th of March at 8.00 pm at the Teatro Cervantes. It will be the perfect closure to an edition that has stood out for its quantity and quality of content of the best Spanish film, where the best known faces of our seventh art have appeared.
The ceremony will be presented by journalist Elena Sánchez and actor Julián López, while film director Santiago Tabernero will be responsible for directing it. In addition, the Biznaga Awards of the Official Competition Section will be awarded, and the audience will be able to enjoy the musical performances of Vetusta Morla, St. Pedro and Kiki Morente. The artist Alejandro Pelayo will be in charge of providing the soundtrack throughout the gala.
From 6:00 pm onwards, the Festival's web TV and its social media will be broadcasting the red carpet where all the guests and award winners of this edition will be seen. The gala can be followed on the same channel and on TVE's La 2 and the RTVE Play digital platform.
After almost ten days of screenings and presentations of films, TV series, documentaries, short films and in Spanish film projects, the Malaga Festival will present the awards to the winners of the ten Biznagas de Plata Awards: Special Jury Prize, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Screenplay, Best Music, Best Cinematography and Best Editing; and two Biznagas de Oro Awards: Best Spanish and Ibero-American Film, which will be awarded to the crews and protagonists of the films presented in the Official Section.
Providing the soundtrack to the gala will be the artist Alejandro Pelayo. The Cantabrian musician, known for his work as a songwriter, pianist and producer of the group Marlango (with Leonor Watling), has been involved in composition all his life. Those attending the closing gala will be lucky enough to enjoy his music throughout the ceremony.
Kiki Morente is the purest form of flamenco. Son of a lineage closely linked to dance and singing, he has managed to introduce contemporary elements into his art. Teatro Cervantes will witness his own version of the song 'Piensa en mí', by Luz Casal.
St. Pedro, a young artist popular for his participation in Benidorm Fest 2024, will continue with his song 'Dos extraños', which came second in the famous contest.
To round off the closing gala, we'll enjoy a performance by the band Vetusta Morla, with their latest hit 'La sábana de mis fantasmas'.
