Ernesto Sevilla and Dani Rovira star in Cuerpo escombro, the new black comedy by Curro Vázquez
The film, currently in the middle of production, seeks to raise awareness and normalise all kinds of disability, with touches of black humour
This Thursday, the ‘5 Minutes of Cinema’ section hosted the screening of Cuerpo escombro, a comedy that brings together a cast made up of well-known faces from Spanish cinema, including Dani Rovira, Ernesto Sevilla, Cassandra Ciangherotti, Omar Chaparro and Antonio Resines, among others.
The screening was attended by the director, Curro Velázquez, and the producer, Juan Gordon, who had already worked together on previous projects. 'I wanted to make a straightforward comedy without constraints', emphasised the producer about a film that seeks to raise awareness and normalise all disabilities and handicaps.
'It’s directly inspired by the black humour of people like Berlanga', confessed the director, who explained how a neighbour of his who had no empathy for people with disabilities inspired him to write the script and name the project. 'It’s not that we do things in opposition to people with disabilities, but perhaps we’re not sensitive enough to the issue', explained Velázquez.
'If this first montage made people laugh, I’m confident the final result will be even better', said Gordon after the screening of three hilarious scenes that reveal and structure the plot of a film that has 'been a great experience', above all for the opportunity to have filmed with non-actors with disabilities or handicaps that were normalised and a key part of the project being filmed successfully.
