The Cine Albéniz Film Library dedicates a cycle to Aki Kaurismäki in April
On Tuesdays next month, five feature films by the renowned Finnish director will be screened in VOSE
From the 2nd to the 30th of April, the Cine Albéniz Film Library is dedicating a cycle to the filmography of the renowned Finnish director Aki Kaurismäki.
La chica de la fábrica de cerillas (1990),
Contraté un asesino a sueldo (1990),
Ariel (1986),
Nubes pasajeras (1996) and
Sombras en el paraíso (1986) will be screened in VOSE every Tuesday next month as part of the Kaurismäki Universe cycle.
The Cine Albéniz recently screened the Nordic director's latest film, Fallen leaves (2023, Jury Prize at Cannes among other awards), which critics say is linked to the spirit of his 'trilogy of the proletariat', consisting of
Sombras en el paraíso, Ariel and La chica de la fábrica de cerillas, and which will be shown in its entirety in Kaurismäki Universe.
Contraté a un asesino a sueldo, a black tragicomedy starring Jean-Pierre Léaud, and Passing Clouds, the first film in his Finland trilogy, complete the overview of his cinema.
The screenings at the Albéniz Film Library have so far received significant public support and aroused interest with a programme of classic films in the original version with subtitles and in celluloid (35 mm) and DCP format.
