Call for entries for Spanish Screenings Content 2025, the official market for the sale and promotion of Spanish cinema, is now open
MAFIZ, the industry area of the Malaga Festival, hosts this event from the 18th of March to the 20th of March within the framework of the event’s 28th edition


The Malaga Film Festival has announced the call for entries for the next edition of Spanish Screenings Content 2025, an event designed as an international promotional platform whose main objective is to boost sales of Spanish cinema. Spanish Screenings, for which 2025 marks its 19th edition, is the only official market for the sale and promotion of Spanish cinema and will take place from the 18th to the 20th of March within the framework of the 28th Malaga Film Festival, and within the MAFIZ industry area with new content adapted to the needs of the international market.
 
Spanish Screenings Content is one of the four axes of Spanish Screenings XXL together with Spanish Screenings On Tour, Spanish Screenings: Financing & Tech (at the San Sebastian Film Festival) and Spanish Screenings 360, a programme of active actions throughout the year.
 
This event has positioned itself as an essential event in the calendar of international markets. In the last edition, Spanish Screenings Content brought together more than 700 people of 61 nationalities. In terms of content, participants had access to almost 200 films, which accumulated more than 2,000 views.
 
During the three days of the market, international buyers, sales agents, national and international distributors, VOD-SVOD platform managers, festival programmers, digital creation platforms and production companies will have the latest in Spanish production at their disposal.
 
In addition, Spanish Screenings will have its platform spanishscreenings.online, the reference site for sales agents, festival programmers, production companies, international distributors, new platforms and other agents in the Spanish and international audiovisual sector.
 
Among the activities that will take place in this edition are:
 
  • Market Screenings: screening sessions at the Rosaleda multiplex, where international buyers and programmers of international festivals will be able to watch recently produced Spanish films.
  • Market Premieres: space enabled for private screenings of productions not released in any other international market and with the participation of the artistic talent of the works.
  • Neo Screenings: screenings of our most innovative and unconventional cinema. The latest productions and new forms of cinematographic expression in Spain will be presented.
  • Málaga Festival Films: screening of a selection of Spanish films in competition in the Official Section and ZonaZine of the Málaga Festival for international buyers, distributors and programmers.
  • Next from Spain: screening of trailers or film footage of films in post-production that will be released in 2024-2025. · Film Library: online platform for viewing Spanish films and television series produced from 2022 onwards.
  • Remake It!: activity dedicated to the booming format for selling Spanish audiovisuals, with the participation of leading international producers.
  • Hack Mafiz Málaga: event for digital creators and platforms with new technological formats. A breeding ground for talent in the audiovisual industry.
  • Málaga Short Corner: space enabled for the promotion, dissemination and distribution of the most recent and relevant short films in our industry.
  • Málaga Spanish Wip: a space designed to promote the completion of Spanish films in the post-production phase and thus encourage their international dissemination and promotion.
  • Regional Film Hub: platform for the promotion and dissemination of the cinematography of the different Spanish autonomous communities. A space for Spanish film institutes to screen and promote the films that they once supported for their development and production.
  • Spain Colorful Diversity: a space for autonomous communities to present their locations, filming support plans, tax benefits and incentives.
  • Spain ScoreCom: with the aim of highlighting the different roles of the audiovisual industry, Spain ScoreCom is a space created to promote emerging Spanish musical talent. Music professionals for the audiovisual industry and other figures who make this field possible will participate in scheduled activities and will have the opportunity to establish synergies in networking events and other opportunities offered by the market.
  • Industry Club: a meeting space for producers, distributors and participants in general.
In selecting the works, the Spanish Screenings Content committee will particularly looks for that the works have not been shown in the national territory, that they have received regional or state support, that they are stories with potential for international careers and that they are first or second works. In addition, in the configuration of the sections, special attention will be paid to gender equality and diversity regarding the direction and production.
 
The deadline for submitting films to the Market Screenings, Neo Screenings, Next From Spain, Market Premieres, Short Corner, Regional Film Hub and Remake It! sections is the 14TH of February.
 
The deadline for submitting films to Film Library, to register in the Spain ScoreCom section or to appear in the market guide hosted on spanishscreenings.online is the 28th of February.
