The “Espacio Solidario” integrates 50 social groups in the 28th Malaga Festival
From the 15th to the 22nd of March, Plaza de la Merced will host free-access activities to promote integration and inclusion
The Malaga Festival, together with the
Malaga City Council - through the
Department of Social Rights, Diversity, Equality and Accessibility - is once again organising the
Espacio Solidario, in collaboration with the
“la Caixa” Foundation. This event will be held from the
15th to the 22nd of March in the Plaza de la Merced as part of the 28th Malaga Festival.
The Espacio Solidario aims to open the Festival to different social groups and encourage their inclusion. To this end,
50 associations and social entities from the city will participate (10 more than last year) that will encourage and enhance the visibility of these citizen groups. In this seventh edition, it will once again have a model based on
informative activities (with free access) from the different associations that participate and whose subject matter is very varied. Therefore, it is a transversal initiative, with activities of all kinds (screenings, round tables, workshops, among others) with an inclusive and social theme.
The Councillor for Culture and Historical Heritage,
Mariana Pineda; the Councillor for Social Rights, Diversity, Equality and Accessibility,
Francisco Cantos; the territorial manager for Andalusia, Ceuta and Melilla of the “la Caixa” Foundation,
Juan Carlos Barroso; the commercial director of Caixabank in Malaga, Cordoba, Almeria, Ceuta and Melilla,
Carmen Gonzalez Novo, and the director of the Malaga Festival,
Juan Antonio Vigar, presented the programme of the Espacio Solidario today at the Cervantes Theatre.
The programme of this space will address very different themes throughout the eight days of activity, with topics such as loneliness, violence, suicide, the environment, childhood and the elderly.
