Cinema Cocina puts the finishing touch to its eighth edition with the traditional gala dinner and awards ceremony at the Gran Hotel Miramar
The jury's winners were 'El mago del vino' in the feature films section and 'Percebes', in the short films section
The winners of the Cinema Cocina section of the Festival de Málaga were announced on Thursday 20th at the traditional gala dinner at the Gran Hotel Miramar. This eighth edition, which was once again held at the Echegaray Theatre, brought together almost twenty Spanish and international documentaries, all of which focused on gastronomy.
The gala dinner was attended by the Mayor of Málaga, Francisco de la Torre; Mariana Pineda, Minister for Culture and Historical Heritage of Malaga City Council; José María Berjillos, Secretary General of the Provincial Delegation of Agriculture in Malaga; Manuel Marmolejo, Vice-President of the Provincial Council of Malaga; Sergio Ragel, Head of External Relations of Cervezas Victoria; and Juan Antonio Vigar, Manager of Málaga Procultura and Director of the Festival de Málaga.
Attendees were able to enjoy a welcome aperitif in the Victoria Room, which included Malaga cheeses, oysters, Iberian ham, Alaskan salmon and sushi, as well as Cerveza Victoria beer and a selection of D.O. Malaga, D.O. Sierras de Malaga and D.O. Canarias wines. They then moved on to the Royal Hall where the gala dinner was held, with the following dishes:
- In the absence of truffles, there was red mullet, by Sacha Hormaechea, from Restaurante Sacha (Madrid).
- Scallop with seaweed broth, by Mauricio Giovanini, Restaurante Messina (Marbella)
- Cod loin with celery liqueur and a cod and garlic foam, by Carmine Guarino, Mura Mura Restaurant (Malaga)
- Corn tamalito stuffed with duck carnitas with black mole, by Mayela Cárdenas, Restaurante Casa Mercedes (Guanajuato, Mexico)
- Caramelised pineapple, coconut sorbet and ras el Hanout crumble, by Diego Nicás, Restaurante Príncipe de Asturias Gran Hotel Miramar (Malaga)
- Mignardises, by Lluc Crusellas, from Eukaria (Barcelona)
To complete the experience, the menu was paired with a selection of wines from Malaga, the Canary Islands and El Bierzo.
CINEMA COCINA 2025 RECORD
The event, once again presented by Celia Bermejo, began with the presentation of the Cinema Cocina awards at the 28th Festival de Málaga, whose decision was handed down by the jury made up of
José Miguel Herrero, Director General of the Food Industry of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food;
Jacobo Gavira, designer, plastic artist and member of the Andalusian Academy of Gastronomy;
Leonor García-Agua, lawyer and director of the promotional brand Sabor a Málaga; and
Luis Suárez de Lezo, President of the Royal Academy of Gastronomy.
