Salva Reina and 'El 47' close the Cinefórum cycle at the 28th Festival de Málaga
Since last Wednesday, the Albéniz Cinema has been hosting meetings with the crews of the films 'La virgen roja', 'El santo' and 'El 47'
Promoted by the Festival de Málaga together with the Department of Education and Youth and the Department of Culture of Malaga Provincial Council, the Cineforum cycle of the 28th edition of the festival came to an end on Friday 21st March. The young audience had the opportunity to enjoy recent feature film premieres and to chat with some of the crew members.
More than 1,500 students from 30 educational and training centres in the province of Malaga travelled to the event to see the feature films screened and discover the secrets behind the cameras and spotlights, a lesser-known vision of the film industry.
Among the schools that attended this Cineforum were IES Afaguara (Yunquera), IES Las Viñas (Mollina), IES Guadaiza (San Pedro de Alcántara), IES Bezmiliana (Rincón de la Victoria), IES Ntra. Sra. de la Victoria (Málaga), IES Serranía (Alozaina), IES Sagrado Corazón (Málaga), CDP El Divino Pastor (Málaga) and IES Gaona (Málaga).
The last three sessions were held at the Cine Albéniz, starting on Wednesday with the screenings of 'La virgen roja' (2024), by Paula Ortiz, 'El salto' (2024), by Benito Zambrano, and 'El 47' (2024), by Marcel Barrena.
The screenwriter Clara Roquet delves into the plot of 'La virgen roja'
Wednesday's session featured 'La virgen roja', a project represented by the screenwriter Clara Roquet, who was able to talk to the audience after the screening and delve into the plot of this film, with a cast headed by Najwa Nimri, Alba Planas and Pepe Viyuela, among others.
The film explores the themes of love, history and sacrifice, and is directed by Paula Ortiz. Set against the backdrop of the Spanish Civil War, the story follows two characters who, caught up in a brutal conflict, face the challenges of survival and loyalty. The film focuses on the story of Hildegart Rodríguez, a symbol of historical and spiritual depth.
"It explores the tensions between love, manipulation and human potential in the context of education and family relationships," the screenwriter commented on the various points she wanted to touch on through the characters of this feature film.
Actress Nansi Nsue reflects on 'The Leap'
The second Cinefórum session at the Cine Albéniz took place yesterday, Thursday, with 'El salto', the film premiered last year by Benito Zambrano. Representing the project was actress and cast member Nansi Nsue, who was able to discuss her role and the plot with the young audience.
‘El salto' is a drama that explores the life of a young immigrant girl who, in her search for a better future, faces the obstacles of life in a society that rejects her. Hoping to build a new life, she is caught in a web of difficult situations, from abuse to discrimination. Through her journey, the film reflects the inner struggle of those who must decide between adapting or staying true to their roots and values.
"It's a story with many simultaneous visions," the actress confessed about a theme of the feature film that focuses on immigration and resilience. It is also a film that delves into human emotions, sacrifice and hope in the midst of adversity. Nsue stressed the importance of "playing characters that you learn from and empathise with".
Salva Reina closes the cycle with 'El 47'
The session that concluded these days of Cineforum took place on the morning of Friday 21st with the screening of 'El 47', multiple award-winner at the last Goya Awards. In fact, one of the statuettes went to the Malaga artist Salva Reina, who was responsible for representing the film in the colloquium after the screening.
‘El 47' tells the story of an act of peaceful resistance and the neighbourhood movement that in 1978 transformed Barcelona and improved the image of its suburbs.
The actor who plays one of the characters assured that the latest awards "have not changed his life". He also talked about how he deals with each character he plays: "You have to analyse whether it has a good structure to be able to interpret it in the best way. The soul, the meaning, his preferences...", said the actor and producer.
When asked about his Andalusianism, the artist was blunt: "You have to exude plurality all the time, and because you are Andalusian you can be and do whatever you want, but not everyone has to be Andalusian, as the profession of acting is to embody any type of character".
