Canal Sur will grant the 'Talento Andaluz' Award at the Malaga Festival to actor Alfonso Sánchez
Canal Sur will support the event by broadcasting the opening and closing galas, as well as a specific section on the on-demand platform CanalSur Más

Canal Sur will grant its Talento Andaluz Award to the versatile actor, screenwriter and director Alfonso Sánchez, within the framework of the 27th Malaga Film Festival. It was announced by the general director of RTVA, Juande Mellado, when he signed a collaboration agreement with the director of the film festival, Juan Antonio Vigar, held on Friday the 23rd of February at Hotel Málaga Palacio.
This award, which recognises Alfonso Sánchez's career as an established actor and also his talent as a director and screenwriter, will be presented at an event on the 4th of March at Cine Albéniz as part of the Festival's programme.
The event was also attended by RTVA's Director of Innovation, Business and Communication, Juan Vargas.
Canal Sur Radio y Television will be committed to the Malaga Festival, the heart of the best Andalusian and Spanish film, to which it will provide preferential news coverage, as well as broadcasting the opening and closing galas and allocating a specific section on its on-demand platform CanalSur Más, thus boosting its broadcasting.

The director of the Malaga Festival, Juan Antonio Vigar, highlighted that ‘more than an agreement, it is a wonderful meeting of wills to promote film. The main purpose of this collaboration is to make more visible the work we do over many months and which comes true in one week’. ‘Spanish film, driven by talent, is becoming more and more solid’, considers the Festival's director. ‘The industry has increasingly taken up positions and is becoming more and more powerful’, he continued. ‘To be a significant festival, you have to help the industry throughout the value chain. It is essential to have industrial structures’, he concluded.

Juande Mellado, director general of RTVA, assured that ‘we are renewing the agreement with the Festival, one of the most important we have supporting film’. The RTVA Management Committee has decided that this year's award will go to Alfonso Sánchez, actor and now director, ‘very closely linked to Canal Sur and very well known’. The general director of Canal Sur said that the award will be presented on the 4th of March. He also said that Canal Sur Radio y Television has an ‘undeniable commitment to the Festival and will offer it great support, that the opening and closing ceremonies will be broadcast, a section will be published on OTT, and it will be present on radio and television. In addition, this year, the festival has a significant number of productions participating in the Festival’. Juande Mellado ended his speech by saying that ‘Canal Sur is the best showcase for Andalusian film: well over 12 million euros have been invested in productions in which Canal Sur participates’.

Information, networks and CanalSur Más
CSRTV will devote special attention to the Festival in its programmes, both on the network and in local programmes. It will also interview people linked to the event in the morning programmes linked to current news, and will also dedicate moments to the broadcasting of its activities and agenda.

In accordance with the agreement, the opening and closing galas of the event will also be broadcast, while the television schedule will be filled with films and documentaries that have been selected or awarded prizes at the Malaga Festival and which have participated in Canal Sur.

The on-demand platform CanalSur Más will dedicate a specific section to the film event, and both the website canalsur.es and the social media profiles will pay special attention to it.
Canal Sur will have the status of collaborating institution of the Malaga Festival, which will provide a suitable space in Plaza de la Merced to install a set where live connections and recordings can be made, and will provide the signal for the broadcasting of the galas. Meanwhile, both entities will work together to organise the Talento Andaluz Award ceremony.

Málaga Festival Industry Zone (MAFIZ)
Canal Sur will be present in the festival's industry zone, which will be active from the 4th to the 8th of March. It will have its own stand at the Spanish Screenings XXL 2024, the official international market for the sale and promotion of Spanish and Latin American audiovisual productions, where it will promote CSRTV's creations and hold work meetings.
Alfonso Sánchez
Alfonso Sánchez's career reached a turning point in 2012, when he made a major impact with his own project, the film ‘El mundo es nuestro’. In that project, he is not only producer, director and screenwriter, but also one of the main characters along with Alberto López (El Culebra), the other half of the popular comedy duo ‘Los compadres’. A film that got him the award for best actor at the Malaga Festival and the award for best new director from the Círculo de Escritores Cinematográficos.

Since then, under his direction, the public successes 'El mundo es suyo' (2018), 'Para toda la muerte' (2020) and 'El Mundo es Vuestro' (2022) have followed. Also, the premiere of the documentary 'Sembrando Sueños' (2023), in which the Álvarez Quintero brothers are vindicated. All of them have had the participation of Canal Sur, a reflection of RTVA's commitment to Andalusian film.

As an actor, Sánchez has appeared in popular series such as 'Plaza Alta' or 'Arrayán' on Canal Sur, and national productions such as 'Los hombres de Paco', 'Aída', or 'Allí abajo'. He also appeared in films such as 'Grupo 7' by the Andalusian director Alberto Rodríguez, or the comedy '8 apellidos vascos', among others. He has also starred in entertainment programmes such as 'Entre compadres' on Canal Sur, in which the comedy duo discover Andalusia as they travel around it, facing all kinds of situations and adventures.
Alfonso Sánchez studied Audiovisual Communication in Malaga, combining it with Dramatic Art studies. At the age of 22, he founded his own film production company, 'Mundoficción', with which he made short films that won several awards. In these short films, we can find the RTVA award in the section of the Almería International Film Festival 'Almería en Corto' for 'La gota' (2005).
